The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Presidency Conference 2024 will explore the multiple pathways of researchers' careers. It is organised under the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union in cooperation with the European Commission. This two-day event will take place on 18 and 19 April 2024 in Mons/Bergen, at the Wallonia Conference Center. What can you expect?

  • The conference features keynotes, policy discussions and parallel sessions aimed at facilitating discussions among researchers, employers in different sectors, policy makers, stakeholders and anyone interested in the topic of researchers’ careers (conference agenda). Inspire us with your achievements, needs, insights and experience!
  • Networking: Get in contact with researchers, universities, research institutions and research infrastructures, businesses, industry, SMEs, public administration, civil society organisations and other socio-economic actors from across Europe.
  • MSCA Awards and poster session:
    • 15 nominated MSCA researchers or alumni will pitch their research topic, innovative project, social initiative, product, service or idea in front of a jury. The call for MSCA Awards will open in February. More information on how to participate will follow. Information on the previous editions MSCA Awards at MSCA 2023 Conference and MSCA Falling Walls Lab at MSCA 2022 Conference.
    • 20 posters (or another medium) will be displayed during the whole conference. On the first day of the conference, participants will be given the opportunity to present their posters during the breaks. The call for applications for the poster session is open until 15 March 2024. More information is available here. On the second day the winners of both competitions will be announced.
  • Social and cultural activities: Included in the conference is a networking dinner and guided visit to the Mundaneum (Thursday), an optional guided tour to the Auguste Rodin exhibition (Friday afternoon) and a museum pass which gives free access to cultural hot spots in Mons until Sunday (21 April).

This event, co-created by the Walloon Region, the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, the Flemish Government (EWI) and BELSPO in partnership with the European Commission, is a unique opportunity to contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) together.

Luciad - Geospatial software for mission-critical operations

Founded in 1999, Luciad serves clients in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Though it recently was acquired by Hexagon Geospatial, they kept an agile SME mindset. Thousands of end users work directly with Luciad’s geospatial applications, and major systems integrators (think Airbus Defense and Space, Lufthansa Systems, NATO, Thales…) incorporate its software in their own products.

NCP Flanders went to Leuven to interview Frederic Houbie, the Research Projects Manager at Luciad, about how he sees Horizon 2020. Luciad is a partner in the MARISA project, which is a collaborative RIA project submitted to an ICT call topic
