Cluster 2 will focus on the EU goals and priorities on enhancing democratic governance and citizens participation, on the safeguarding and promotion of cultural heritage and respond to and shape multifaceted social, economic, technological and cultural transformations.

The challenges of cluster 2 are interconnected to each other and have been chosen because they respond to the most pressing social, political, economic and cultural concerns and expectations of the European citizens.
Cluster 2 will address the EU priorities and will enable decision makers to meet challenges, adopt new paradigms, and policies for change in a context of fast paced transformations, transitions and international interconnectedness.
The Cluster 2 Work Programme will mainly focus on three key challenges or destinations:
Furthermore, cluster 2 will also use the multidisciplinary expertise of social sciences and humanities in order to better understand the fundamental contemporary transformations of society, economy, politics and culture.

The Project SeafoodTomorrow is a project that is approved within the call BG-08-2017: Innovative sustainable solutions for improving the safety and dietary properties of seafood.
The three-year SeafoodTomorrow project brings together 34 partners. From Flanders, ILVO takes part in the project.They are responsible for setting up two databases which are the central point of the project to gather all the project data from analysis and assessement. ILVO is also leader of the workpackage dealing with authenticity, traceability and labelling. ILVO is also involved a the workpackage about novel food preparation. And in the managerial part, ILVO is head of the IPC- Intellectual Property Comité.
